    Coach's guide

Match the ball to the job

You’ve got the size from the chart above. The next call is the job — games, daily practice, futsal, or stocking a whole team. Here’s how I’d sort it for one of my own players.

    Match balls

Game day. Higher-grade materials, a true round shape, and a thermal-bonded or hand-stitched surface for a predictable flight. Look for a FIFA Quality or FIFA Quality Pro mark — the adidas Trionda and Puma Orbita TB sit here.

    Training balls

Practice and everyday play. Machine-stitched with a tougher casing that holds up to thousands of touches on grass, turf and hard ground. The smart buy for a coach’s ball bag.

    Futsal & indoor

Indoor courts and futsal. Smaller, heavier and low-bounce thanks to a foam-backed bladder, so it stays on the floor instead of bouncing away. Don’t sub in a regular Size 5 for true futsal.

    Team packs

Clubs and programs. Buy 6 or 12 balls in a carry duffle and save versus singles, with consistent ball quality across the whole team. This is how I stock my own side for the season.

    Know your FIFA mark

    FIFA Quality Pro

Highest rating. Pro and top-flight match play. Strictest tests for weight, shape and bounce.

    FIFA Quality

Competitive club and league match play, a step below Pro.

    FIFA Basic / IMS

Durable balls for training, rec and everyday play.

    More about branded soccer balls

Whether it’s game day for a high-school or college side, a club training session, a parent grabbing a first Size 3 or Size 4 for a young player, or a coach restocking the team ball bag, the right ball comes down to size and surface. Branded soccer balls are built for grass, turf, hard court and indoor play, and choosing the type that fits your environment improves control and how long the ball lasts.

This collection spans match balls, training balls, futsal and indoor balls, mini balls, and 6- and 12-ball team packs in sizes 3, 4 and 5. You’ll find FIFA Quality Pro match balls such as the adidas Trionda and Puma Orbita TB, NCAA-approved balls from Wilson, and trusted training and club balls from Select, Brine, Joma and adidas. Goal Kick Soccer is an authorized adidas, Puma, Select and Wilson retailer, so every ball is the real thing — not a marketplace knockoff.

Goal Kick Soccer has been the trusted source for soccer gear since 2001. Free shipping on orders $85 and up, ships fast from our Iowa warehouse.

    Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about choosing a soccer ball.

What size soccer ball do I need?
Go by age. Size 5 is the official ball for ages 12 through adult — that’s what MLS, NCAA, NJCAA and NAIA play on. Size 4 is for ages 8 to 11. Size 3 is for players 7 and under. A mini Size 1 is for skills work and little ones. When in doubt for a youth player, match the size to their age group, not their skill level.
What is the official 2026 FIFA World Cup soccer ball?
It’s the adidas Trionda — the official match ball of the FIFA World Cup 26™. It uses a four-panel, thermal-bonded seamless build with a “la ola” wave design celebrating the three host nations (USA, Canada and Mexico), and it carries the FIFA Quality Pro mark, the highest rating. We stock the Trionda match, competition and training versions — see our adidas Trionda World Cup balls.
What's the difference between a match ball and a training ball?
A match ball is built for games: higher-grade materials, a true round shape, and a thermal-bonded or hand-stitched surface for a clean, predictable flight, usually carrying a FIFA Quality or FIFA Quality Pro mark. A training ball is built to take a beating — machine-stitched with a tougher casing for daily practice. Most coaches keep a few match balls for games and a bag of training balls for the week.
What do FIFA Quality and FIFA Quality Pro mean, and which does my league require?
FIFA Quality Pro is the top mark (pro and elite match play); FIFA Quality is the competitive club and league standard; FIFA Basic and IMS cover training and rec. For league play, check your rulebook — NFHS, NCAA, NJCAA and NAIA games are played on a Size 5 ball, often one carrying an NFHS or FIFA Quality stamp. If you’re not sure what your league approves, tell us the league and we’ll point you to the right ball.
Do I need a futsal ball or an indoor ball?
Two different things. A futsal ball is smaller, heavier and low-bounce — built for the hard-court futsal game. For indoor arena soccer, leagues usually play with a regular Size 5 outdoor-style ball, not a futsal ball. So if your league says futsal, get a futsal ball; if it’s indoor arena soccer, check the league rules — you’ll most likely want a standard Size 5.
    How fast does shipping arrive?
We ship from our Iowa warehouse within 1–2 business days, and U.S. ground delivery usually lands in 2–5 business days. Shipping is free on orders $85 and up, with faster options at checkout. With the World Cup 2026 rush coming, order early so your ball’s in hand before your first game or watch party.
