  • MLS Scheduling Better

    March 13, 2015 2 min read

It seems like Major League Soccer is taking a page from their counterparts Barclays Premier League by trying to make the games more on a regular schedule instead of all of the place and time.  In the past the games have been at different days of the week, never a set schedule.  Everyone that knows Barclays Premier League is usually playing on the weekend, maybe a game on Monday.  The only time they play during the week is when the FA Cup is playing during the weekend.  It has been this way for BPL for a long time and everyone enjoys this.  Most people in the United States, when the MLS first started, didn’t go to games because they were working or didn’t know when the games were.  Now with the first week of play over and most of the games having great attendance, let’s see if this week the attendance of the games will be the same or better.    New York City FC is playing its first home game at Yankee Stadium, which they just open the upper deck, which makes the whole stadium open for the public.  They originally did not want the upper deck to be open but when the tickets sold out for the rest of the stadium. They had to give in to the demand.  Of all the games that are being played this weekend, there are a few teams playing there second game at home, and those are Houston, FC Dallas, Portland, and Seattle.   The teams that are having their opening day are Chicago, Columbus, Real Salt Lake, and Portland.  There are still 6 teams that have yet to have their opening day home game.  These teams are New England, NY Red Bulls, San Jose, Toronto FC, Colorado, and Montreal.  The Toronto games usually are packed with fans, and I’m hoping that the rest of the teams are able to follow suit.

What game this weekend will be the best?  I would love some ideas.
