  • Can They Survive? Leicester City

    March 04, 2015 2 min read

Leicester (Lester) City find themselves bottom of the table with a game in hand against almost certain Premier League favorites Chelsea. With only 18 points from 27 matches, the Foxes appear to have been caught by the relegation hound. The 2013/14 Championship winners have been on the bottom since match week 13. £9.0m summer signing Andrej Kramaric has provided little product to justify the price tag. Meanwhile, fellow striker and new arrival Leonardo Ulloa has proven to be a handful with his tireless work rate, size, and strength. With 7 of the 24 goals scored, the former Brighton Hove & Albion hitman has proven good value at £7.0m. Esteban Cambiasso has made a decent debut in England, the 34 year old has shown there is still some gas left in the tank. Defender Wes Morgan has been a stall worth in defense, featuring in 26 of their matches. They are a hard working side that do try and play some proper passing football, unfortunately they lack the necessary quality to compete in the Premiership.

FACT:  Leicester City have 7 Home Matches compared to 4 away matches, which does give them some hope during the final run in.

FACT:  Algerian midfielder Riyad Mahrez has been impressive in his first Premier League season. His dribbling and creativity have been one of the few bright spots for the Foxes.

FACT:  The Foxes can always hang their hats on the 5-3 triumph over Manchester United early in the season.

FICTION: David Nugent is the son of Ted Nugent from his 1984 tour of the UK.

VERDICT:  Unfortunately this Leicester City squad appear to be standing on the trap door back to the Championship. It’s hard to see this side turning their fortunes around at this point, Championship football for the Foxes is on the cards.
