Most of the games were played on Saturday to let the Capital One Cup final be the main game on Sunday.  Crystal Palace was taking on West Ham United, who has the most points it has ever had in the premier league at this point in the season.  The first half was an evenly matched until a corner was given in the 41st minute and Murray put in a header from the middle of the box.  This gave Crystal Palace the momentum going into half-time.  The scored 2 goals which put the game out of reach for West Ham United.  After the two goals, Murray, who put in two goals, got his second yellow card of the game.  West Ham then proceeded to attack the defense of Crystal Palace to see if they will break.  They were able to get one goal but weren’t able to catch up to the 3 goals that Crystal Palace had.  Palace won 3-1.

Manchester United had a good time with Rooney scoring twice.  A controversial penalty call got Rooney his chance at his first goal from the spot.  A header from the close range was his second goal.   The penalty call was a sending off because Falcao was pulled down and tripped by two different people.  The red card was shown to Wes Brown, who use to play on Manchester United.   Sunderland appealed the red card after the game and has since won the appeal and the red card will not be transferred to John O’Shea.    That is great news for Sunderland, who will be able to play both of them on Tuesday against Hull.  Manchester United won 2-0.

Burnley played well against Swansea City.  Burnley had more of the shots at goal and on goal.  There was only one mistake that they made and it was an own goal.  Seemed like the forwards for Burnley couldn’t get through the defensive wall of Swansea City.  It seemed like Swansea City wouldn’t get the better of Burnley because Burnley had the better of chances.  Ashley Burns played very well up front, which gave Burnley the best chances.  Bafetimbi Gomis missed the best chance to put his team up when he went one-on-one with the keeper but slotted the ball wide.  There was mass confusion in the 64th minute where the ball went in the Burnley net off Kieran Trippier, their own player.  This gave Swansea the lead and they never relinquished it.  Swansea City wins 1-0.

Newcastle United has not won in 2015.  They played Aston Villa, who has been having problems lately with getting points.  Cisse scored for Newcastle to give them the lead in the first half.  Tim Krul had to come up with two big saves to keep a clean sheet for Newcastle.  Aston Villa had the best chances of the game but they could not find the goal, most went wide.  Newcastle won the game but they did not do it in a convincing way for the home crowd to cheer for.  Newcastle wins 1-0.

Southampton had the chance to really keep on the leaders heels if they were to bring out a win.  An early goal for West Bromwich Albion hurt Southampton badly.  Southampton kept most of the control of the ball but could not penetrate the defense.  The early goal was just too much for Southampton overcome.  West Bromwich Albion wins 1-0.

Hull City played Stoke City in a match that could not get anything going for Hull.  They could not manage a shot on goal the whole night.  Even though the possession was about equal Hull City could not get past the defense of Stoke.  The super sub, as many are calling him, Peter Crouch got a goal to equal the record for the most goals with a header, 46 goals.  Crouch came on the field and got a goal within a minute of play. The rest of the game was not good for the Hull City players because they could not get anything shot at the net.

Liverpool played Manchester City yesterday in a great game between the two power house teams.  Liverpool wanted to dash Manchester City’s hopes of winning the premier league.  Manchester City is 5 points behind the leaders, who have a game in-hand by Chelsea.  Henderson put a great goal in the net and was able to put Liverpool in the lead, and Dzeko was able to make an equalizer, but Coutinho’s 75th minute goal put it beyond the reach of Manchester City.  Liverpool wins 2-0
