Player Profile: Octavio Rivero

April 10, 2015 1 min read

Octavio Rivero is an up and coming player for the Vancouver Whitecaps.  Right now he leads the MLS in scoring.  This young player comes from Uruguay, where he played most of his youth soccer and started his professional career.   He started his professional career with Central Español with 3 goals in 19 appearances.  He was sent to two different clubs before he was signed by Vancouver Whitecaps as a young designated player.  This was great for Octavio and was just the start of a bright career for him in the United States.

Since joining Vancouver, Rivero has scored a goal in every game that he has played, except one.  Two of the games were game winning goals late in the game.  The game that Rivero didn’t score, he created a foul that would set up the free kick.  Every game Octavio seems to contribute to his team.  With all of the contributions that he has made, his team has the lead in the Western Conference.  Rivero always wants more goals, more soccer and more expectations.  Rivero is very coaches dream player that will work hard for his team.  That’s why Octavio Rivero was named Player of the Month, for the month of March, scoring 3 goals, 2 game winning.

Can he keep this form up?  You can be the judge of that, but time will tell.
